Question:
What exactly is a American Compound? Are these compounds near American restaurants, American grocery stores, English Movie and Live Theatres, Clothing Stores, etc.? In the newer compounds outside downtown Moscow, how long does it take to commute to the city's center?
Rick
Answer:
Dear Rick,
There are several compounds in the Moscow region, all considered "International" rather than "American". Although some of the compounds have infrastructure on their territories, overall they do not have great access to restaurants, grocery stores, theatres/entertainment, and shopping. Instead, compared to other accommodation the main advantage of these compounds is that they are family-friendly, specifically in terms of security, space, and access to schools. The most popular compounds are Serebryany Bor (prestigious compound located in a quiet forest), Pokrovsky Hills (next to the Anglo-American School) and Rosinka (the British International School is on it's territory and it has excellent facilities). If the traffice is moving, the commute time by car to and from the city's center for Serebryany Bor, Pokrovskya Hills, and Rosinka averages ~35 minutes, 40 minutes, and 1 hour respectively. Please don't hesitate to ask any other questions.
