Question:
Hi, I read somewhere that if one is an employee of an accredited entity, one can save 20% VAT on the rent. Can you please explain the procedure for that. Thanks.
Andreas Baumeister
Answer:
Dear Andreas,
The Tenant does not pay VAT when he rents a property from a private landlord, as VAT is not applied to private individual's income. If the Tenant is to rent from a corporate landlord, then they will pay 18% VAT. The one exception is that diplomatic organizations do not pay VAT.
