Question:
Are there midwives in Moscow who attend home births? How are home births regarded in Russia? Are there regulations about them?
LM
Answer:
There are no homebirths in Russia that we are aware of - here pregnancy and labor are very much the domain of doctors. A home birth is considered "unsafe", and pts are required to attend a specialized facility to ensure a "safe" birth for both mother and baby. There are no laws regarding homebirths, as all moms are required to go to the maternity houses. Home births only happen when the ambulances don't arrive in time. It is not advisable to try a homebirth.
