Question:
The last time I was in your office for teeth cleaning, the pretty hygenist asked if I wanted the doctor to examine my teeth. I thought 'why not'. My question is 'why don't you have your staff inform the patient that this exam, which may last only 20 seconds, will cost them $60?'
Dashinka
Answer:
Dear Dashinka,
We do not force our patients to make a decision on financial aspects of their treatment plan but as professionals we keep our patients informed on options of treatment. It is entirely up to the patient to accept the option or not. We also hope our patients understand that our services can not be provided free of charge. We suggest refuse a treatment to anyone if it seems too expensive. We hope you understand that you have been asked if you wanted the exam and you consented to it. Our dental exam cost is $60 as any other procedure in the dental office, which is well within customary fees accepted for the average Moscow dental office. If you wanted to be informed on any other specific details such as duration and cost you should have asked the hygienist or doctor at the time of your appointment and refuse if you didn't like what you've heard. We regret any misunderstanding that inspired such letter but hope you received excellent care.
