Question:
My husband grinds his teeth at night, and they are almost completely worn away. Should he get porcelain veneers or some other type of tooth cover? How much would it cost?
GB
Answer:
Yes, your husband should get first a Mouthguard to wear, in order not to grind anymore with his teeth and the possible restructuring of his teeth depends on the amount of enamel and toothsubstance lost. In general I think it would be better for someone grinding to get a rather stabil replacement, means better crowns (i.e. metall ceramic crowns) than veneers. Veneers are not that stabil and can break with too much forces on them. In any case, also after replacement of teeth, a Mouthguard is recommended. Prices for crowns at our clinic are 650,- $ per unit, veneers are 520,- $US. Best regards V. Grossmann
