Question:
My dentist has recommended that I should have my teeth cleaned from tartar buildup by ultra sound. Is it really necessary to remove it? And does this procedure have any side effects (can it destroy the enamel, etc.)?
LV
Answer:
It is absolutely necessary to remove tartar, because it is not only mechanically disturbing the gum but on its surface are lots of bacterias which cause inflamation of the gum. As a result the gum would bleed easy and draw back and expose the more sensitive area of the teeth. there are no side effects if it is handled with care, beside also hand instruments can be used and to polish the surface of the teeth after cleaning is important too.
