This summer, boutique festival Chess & Jazz returns to Moscow’s Hermitage Garden on 26-27 July featuring performances from two-time Grammy award winner Gregory Porter and the Manchester trio, GoGo Penguin. Chess grandmasters are flying in to inspire rookies and give lessons across the sessions of the festival’s “How To Chess Well” school. Festival-goers can sign up for the tournament and a range of master classes online and at the festival. Guests are invited to come and play a game or two of chess outdoors and choose the right rhythm and tempo for their game. Gregory Porter is named by critics as one of the best contemporary jazz artists of our time, is this year’s Chess & Jazz festival music headliner on July 27. GoGo Penguin’s sound fuses a multitude of genres into a atmospheric, contemporary jazz sound with references to Shostakovich and electronica. They will be performing live on July 26 at the event’s jazz tie opening. With music and chess always at the centre of the festival, the Chess & Jazz programme also includes a variety of panel sessions and public talks around sports, science, art and business, going by the name of CHESS'noye Slovo. Guests will be offered a wide range of street food and beverages from food stalls by Moscow’s top gastronomic eateries. Hermitage Garden |
