The fifth edition of Fields – a two-day festival of inventive music – will take place in August 2019 at the new Moscow art space, Mutabor. Musicians from eight different countries will perform across three stages during this large-scale city event. The programme will focus on musical contrasts, live performances, and breaking genre barriers. Diagonal Records, a London-based independent label that represents innovative club-style electronic music, will host a special showcase at Fields Festival. Oscar Powell, NTS radio host and founder of Diagonal along with Jaime Williams, will perform both a solo DJ set and as part of his duo, HP with noise conceptualist Russell Haswell. Powell releases his own records through Diagonal label, his music often described as contorting the textures of techno, noise, no wave, and extreme electronic music. In his tracks, you can hear both samples from Manix and melodies in the style of Aphex Twin alongside accelerated rhythms of gabber. HP create post-noise sketches with digital sonic touch inspired by both Haswell’s noise experiments Powell's post-punk attitude. Haswell is an interdisciplinary artist, performer, and curator, whose work features at both galleries and clubs. He has collaborated with renowned electronic musicians such as Aphex Twin, Gescom, Pan Sonic, and Merzbow. Mutabor |
