July 21, 12:00
Muzeon Muzeon

Ahmad Tea Music Festival invites you to enjoy a wonderful open-air evening of great British music in a beautiful city center park in the eighth time. This year Festival, sponsored by the popular brand of English tea is also to be held in an open venue, perfect for summer events - the Museon Park of Arts. The headliners will be Biffy Clyro, Wolf Alice, Miles Kane, Circa Waves, Sundara Karma and Tom Grennan. Biffi Clyro - a three-piece alternative rock band which formed in Kilmarnock, Scotland in 1995. Playing loud combinations of pop/rock, inspired by the music of bands like Weezer, Biffy Clyro first started by playing their aggressive pop tunes in the nearby Glasgow club scene, eventually enjoying a stable and enthusiastic response from their audiences. Wolf Alice - an evocative North London alt-rock outfit led by vocalist Ellie Rowsell. Wolf Alice deftly mixes folk, grunge, and electronic elements with vintage '90s indie rock. Miles Kane - indie journeyman who paired with Alex Turner in the chart-topping Last Shadow Puppets before pursuing a solo career. An indie pop veteran by his early twenties, singer/songwriter and young Paul McCartney look-alike Miles Kane has played a key role in the late-noughties alternative scene, both as a member of three bands and a solo artist. Heavily inspired by the Strokes, Liverpudlian indie rockers Circa Waves went from unknowns to radio stars in just six months.

The festival of British music "Ahmad Tea Music Festival" has been held in Moscow since 2011. The mission of the Festival is to become a bridge between music culture of Great Britain and Russia. Ahmad Tea Music Festival line-up:

Biffy Clyro. Assembling in the late '90s in the town of Kilmarnock near Glasgow, Scotland, Biffy Clyro featured a three-piece lineup fronted by vocalist and guitarist Simon Neil along with James Johnston (bass) and drummer Ben Johnston. Playing loud combinations of pop/rock, inspired by the music of bands like Weezer, Biffy Clyro first started by playing their aggressive pop tunes in the nearby Glasgow club scene, eventually enjoying a stable and enthusiastic response from their audiences. Biffy, as they are often referred to, utilise a quiet/loud dynamic, constructing songs that can range from a whisper-quiet pick on the guitar, to huge walls of noise with massive distortion and crashing drums. Their sound has simplified somewhat in recent times yet still occasionally contains complex time signatures and heavy riffs. While Simon Neil sings lead, all three members provide vocals. "'Mon the Biffy!" is a well known chant amongst Biffy fans; it is usually shouted in between songs at gigs, or before the band come on stage. Some fans have reacted poorly to the band's recent output.

After releasing their first EP, Thekidswhopoptodaywillrocktomorrow, via the Electric Honey record label, the band managed to secure some airplay on Scotland's BBC, which opened the way to even more exposure on the Scottish music scene. Not long after, the trio signed a recording contract with Beggars Banquet and offered their first single, "27," in October 2000. In the following months, the group played numerous live shows, including one opening slot for their longtime idols Weezer. In February 2002, the crew offered yet another single, simply titled "57," before the release of their long-awaited debut full-length, Blackened Sky, issued in March of that same year.

A year later, the more elaborate The Vertigo of Bliss appeared. Constant touring to support the album kept the band busy until mid-2004 when they recorded Infinity Land, which was released late in the year. Three years later the successful single "Saturday Superhouse" announced the coming of their fourth album, Puzzle. In 2009, Biffy Clyro released their fifth studio album, Only Revolutions. Featuring such singles as "Mountains," "Bubbles," and "Many of Horror," the album was both a critical and commercial success, going platinum in 2010 and earning several accolades including a Mercury Music Prize nomination. In 2012, Biffy Clyro released an online video trailer announcing their forthcoming sixth studio album, Opposites. A sprawling, ambitious work balancing prog rock with mainstream, radio-ready pop, Opposites was released in 2013. Buoyed by the single "Black Chandelier," the album became the band's first ever to hit number on the U.K. album charts. The band also spent much of the year headlining their second world tour. Biffy Clyro returned in 2016 with the full-length album Ellipsis. Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Rich Costey (Franz Ferdinand, Muse), the album featured the singles "Wolves of Winter" and "Animal Style." They went on to promote the album with an open-air set in Glasgow, and headlined the Reading & Leeds festival in 2016 and the Download Festival in 2017. November of 2017 saw the group perform a stripped-back, unplugged set at London's prestigious Roundhouse. The performance was released as a live album the following spring and featured a cover of the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows."

Wolf Alice is a rock band from North London, UK formed in 2010. The lineup consists of Ellie Rowsell (vocals, guitar), Joff Oddie (guitar), Theo Ellis (bass), and Joel Amey (drums). The band began in 2010, initially as a solo project of Ellie Rowsell, with the name taken from a short story by Angela Carter. She was joined by guitarist Joff Oddie. The duo issued an eponymous EP independently before expanding into a four-piece in 2012 with the addition of drummer Joel Amey and bassist Theo Ellis. The newly minted quartet released a flurry of singles before putting out a proper debut EP, Blush, in 2013. The EP garnered positive reviews, with some critics comparing the group to Elastica, Garbage, the Duke Spirit, and the Pixies. The band's sophomore EP, Creature Songs, followed in 2014. A pair of singles, "Giant Peach" and "Bros," arrived before the Mercury Prize-nominated full-length My Love Is Cool in June 2015. The album also earned Brit, Grammy, and Ivor Novello award nominations. Along with touring, Wolf Alice contributed the song "Ghoster" to the Ghostbusters soundtrack in 2016 and began work on their second album. Written in London and recorded in Los Angeles with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen, 2017's Visions of a Life featured the singles "Yuk Foo" and "Don't Delete the Kisses," and spanned the band's many sounds.

Miles Kane ia an indie pop veteran by his early twenties, singer/songwriter and young Paul McCartney look-alike Miles Kane has played a key role in the late-noughties alternative scene, both as a member of three bands and a solo artist. Born in 1986 in Merseyside, guitarist Kane formed the Little Flames with childhood friends at the age of 18, but after Eva Petersen and Mat Gregory left the band due to creative differences, he, along with bassist Joe Edwards and drummer Greg Mighall, continued as a three-piece under the new name of the Rascals. In 2007, with Kane now on vocals, they released their debut album, Rascalize, and appeared in the British hooligan film Away Days, performing an Echo & the Bunnymen cover. After supporting Arctic Monkeys on their U.K. tour, Kane became friends with lead singer Alex Turner, and due to a mutual appreciation of Scott Walker, they decided to record an album together. The Last Shadow Puppets reached number one with their debut, The Age of the Understatement, scored a Top Ten single with the title track, and received a 2008 Mercury Music Prize nomination. After Turner returned to his day job, Kane decided to leave the Rascals and pursue a solo career. In 2010 he worked with Super Furry Animals' Gruff Rhys on material influenced by Serge Gainsbourg and John Lennon. His first single, "Inhaler," was released the same year. In 2011 Kane released his full-length debut, Colour of the Trap, featuring production from both Dan Carey and Dan the Automator; it debuted at 11 on the U.K. charts. Two years later, Kane released the Ian Broudie-produced Don't Forget Who You Are, which debuted at eight on the U.K. charts.

Circa Waves is an indie rock band was formed in Liverpool in May 2013 by guitarist and singer Keiran Shuddall, who had decided to "knuckle down" and commit fully to music after spending years in a succession of no-hope garage bands. After writing a batch of songs and putting some demos online, he recruited second guitarist Joe Falconer, bassist Sam Rourke, and drummer Sian Plummer (male, despite his name), and the band undertook a few short tours of the U.K. and Europe. Their melodic, propulsive rock sound, heavily inspired by the Strokes and also often compared to the Vaccines, was well-received by audiences, and such a buzz built around them that they were soon offered a deal with Transgressive Records, erstwhile home of Foals, the Subways, and Mystery Jets. Their debut single, the double-A-side "Get Away"/"Good for Me," was released in December 2013 and was almost immediately hailed the "Hottest Record in the World" by taste-making BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe. In 2015, Circa Waves released their debut full-length album, Young Chasers, on Virgin/EMI. The reception they received for their debut instilled the band with a greater sense of confidence, as a result they returned to the studio almost immediately after touring; with their renewed vigor they created a heavier, beefier sophomore record, 2017's Different Creatures.

Sundara Karma. U.K. indie quartet Sundara Karma emerged in 2014 with a bright, shimmering sound and great expectations. Though their name may be based in Hindu/Buddhist origin, the Reading-based band arrived emitting pure waves of pop, beginning with early singles "Indigo Puff," "Loveblood," and "Flame." Longtime friends Oscar Lulu (vocals, guitar), Ally Baty (guitar), Dom Cordell (bass), and Haydn Evans soon earned themselves a deal with RCA imprint Chess Club Records, and after a pair of well-received 2015 EPs, they completed work on their debut album, Youth Is Only Ever Fun in Retrospect. The Larry Hibbitt-produced LP was released in January 2017 followed by several months of hard-touring.

Tom Grennan. London-based singer/songwriter Tom Grennan first entered the wider public as a guest vocalist on Chase & Status' track "When It All Goes Wrong." Far from being an electronic musician, Grennan's early solo shows consisted of just vocals and guitar. Grennan released his debut single, "Something in the Water," in 2016. The track was produced by Charlie Hugall (Florence + the Machine, Ed Sheeran, Kaiser Chiefs). A trio of EPs - Release the Brakes, Something in the Water, and Found What I've Been Looking For - followed in 2017 showcasing Grennan's gritty vocals and soulful indie folk-pop mix. 2018 began with the snappy, string-laden single "Sober."
