Garage Museum of Contemporary Art presents “How are You in the West?”— a program of screenings focusing on New German Cinema. Many of the films released from the 1960s through the 1980s changed global cinema forever. This series of screenings is timed to coincide with German artist Thomas Demand’s exhibition at Garage, Mirror Without Memory, which features video works by one of the key ideologists of New German Cinema, the director and writer Alexander Kluge. It also coincides with the Museum’s publication in Russian translation of Kluge's book Russia-Container. Film screening on Jan. 27, 19:30: The All-Round Reduced Personality. Reproductive labor and artistic production in one of New German Cinema’s most striking feminist films. Programme: On Jan. 29, 18:30: Palermo or Wolfsburg. Werner Schroeter’s Italo-German drama about a tragic clash of cultures, Palermo or Wolfsburg, won the Golden Bear at the 30th Berlinale; On Jan. 30, 17:00: Ticket of No Return. A woman’s self-destruction and a public scandal in Ulrike Ottinger's alcoholic odyssey. You can buy tickets here. Garage Museum of Contemporary Art |
