Rainy Days Jazz Fest
Second edition of the annual Rainy Days Jazz Fest will merge the brightest contemporary UK and Russian jazz acts. The festivals program includes the performances by Phronesis, Elliot Galvin, JZ Replacement (international duo by Zhenya Strigalev and Jamie Murray) and also the leading Russian jazz collectives. The event is organized by the Rainy Days Records team. One of the headliners of the festival is the London based trio Phronesis, first time performing in Russia. Since the year 2005 the trio released 8 albums and tours around the world regularly. Their releases are hitting the top charts, have great press and get awards. Phronesis is two times “MOBO Awards” nominee and was awarded “Jazz Ensemble of the Year” at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards" in 2017, thus reaffirming their status as one of the brightest British jazz collectives. Another premier performance for the Russian audience is the solo act by the young virtuoso pianist and composer – Elliot Galvin . His last years release, recorded in trio – “The Influencing Machine” – is considered to be one of the most important albums in 2018 by Downbeat ? Jazzwise magazines. His upcoming recording “Modern Times” will be released this spring. The performance which perfectly represents the UK-Russia connection is an international project – JZ Replacement – by the Russian alto saxophonist Zhenya Strigalev and the great up and coming British drummer Jamie Murray. Since the year 2018 the duo toured actively through Europe and did perform at the renowned jazz festivals already. The band is releasing their debut album featuring Tim Lefebvre (David Bowie, Chris Potter) next year.
