20:00 Auction
Auction is a Russian alternative rock band from St. Petersburg. It was founded by Leonid Fyodorov and Oleg Garkusha at the Polytechnic Institute of Leningrad. Though they originally played post-punk and new wave, the group came to be influenced by European and Central Asian folk music, the poetry of Russian futurist Velimir Khlebnikov, and aspects of Russian high culture and literature. The band was particularly popular from 1987 through 1995, but became less active in the late 1990's when Fyodorov began to produce records for Leningrad. The group continues to play together and to release new albums. They toured the United States in 2006 in support of their first US release, the album "Pioneer". The group returned to the US in 2008 when they released the album "Girls Sing". Just about the only Russian rock band to nurse out a sound that resists an easy matchup with a Western source, Auktyon is consistently and wholly original. They are a legend in their homeland and a cult band in continental Europe where they spend half of their time touring. Their sound keeps changing all the time and now, complete with assorted percussion, multi-reed player, a trumpeter and a tubist, it approaches tight jazzy arrangements of Charles Mingus or Radiohead style. In 2013 Auktyon celebrated the 20th anniversary of their album "Bird" from 1993, perhaps the best work of the band and whole Russian rock music.

20:00 The Black Heart Rebellion (Belgium)
The Black Heart Rebellion (TBHR) shows off many faces. Starting in the punk scene in 2004, the band’s remarkable course roller-coasted from the international underground to more public stages in and around Belgium. The band was constantly on the hunt for new impulses, either visually, graphically or musically. The new album "HAR NEVO" reflects that steady, artistic evolution. Working on a record for four years is a long time. In the meantime, TBHR started collaborating with the Church of Ra collective, where they met a kindred vision and working method. During that period they played few live shows. So as not to lose focus. The hiatus was necessary and paid off in the end. "HAR NEVO" oozes with waiting, tiresome and disconcerting. Working patiently and endlessly towards an inevitable outburst.
