19:00 Soloists of Nizhniy Novgorod
The Soloists of Nizhniy Novgorod chamber orchestra is justly considered to be one of the leading chamber orchestra of Russia today. This ensemble exists since the 80’s of the past centuries under different names. Its modern name, Soloists of Nizhniy Novgorod, accurately reflects the sense of the orchestra, which is made up of vivid individuals. The Soloists are well known far beyond Nizhniy Novgorod area, for they perform in Moscow, St Petersburg, and German Essen. The average annual number of its concerts is 60, or more, with world class soloists being frequent collaborators. Not only pure musical projects, but a “synthetic”, fusion of art, is the feature of the ensemble. Ancient and modern music are among the Orchestra’s priorities. Nowadays, for some historically informed music projects the Orchestra collaborates with Maxim Yemelyanychev, one of the most interesting musicians of the young generation. This night, music of Viennese classics is performed along with an oeuvre of our contemporary. Joseph Haydn is the inventor of symphony as a form. He himself wrote 108 pieces of this genre. Sometimes titles reflect content. Thus, his early symphonies, the 6th, 7th , and 8th bear such nicknames as “Le matin” (“The Morning”), “Le midi” (“The Noon”), and “Le soir” (“Evening”), respectively. two late symphonies, 82 and 83, are paired. The one is called “Bear Symphony”, the other “La poule”, French for “The Hen”. In the latter you’ll hear oboe mimic cackle!
