Choir of the Academy of Choral Art named after V.S. Popov, Conductor Alexei Petrov together with Olga Pudova (soprano), Yulia Matochkina (mezzo-soprano), Kirill Soldatov (trumpet) will perform Bach, Handel, Rachmaninov, Cherubini, Chesnokov, Schubert, Verdi, Giazotto, Tosti, Luzzi, Poulenc, Saint-Saens, Grieg, Mozart, Caccini. This program is a reflection of the diversity of musical interpretations of the traditional Catholic prayer Ave Maria. The most famous versions belong to Charles Gounod (1859) - the altered Bach theme of the First Prelude in C Major from the 1st volume of the "Well Tempered Clavier", and Franz Schubert - "The Third Song of Ellen" by Walter Scott's poem "The Virgin of the Lake". The young Russian soprano, Olga Pudova, is fast becoming one of the most exciting coloratura sopranos of our age. This season, engagements include her US opera debut as Königin der Nacht with Opera Philadelphia, as well as productions of Die Zauberflöte at the Opéra Comique, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and on tour in Japan with the Komische Oper Berlin. In concert, highlights include Rachmaninov’s The Bells with the Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España, and the Aids-Gala in Düsseldorf. MMDM Svetlanov Hall |
