Celebration
21:40. Documentary. France 2007, 74 min. Directed by Olivier Meyrou. In French with Russian subtitles. Olivier Meyrou’s film tells about the last years spent by Yves Saint-Laurent as the creative director of his own fashion house and the creation of his farewell collection for YSL. This is an uncompromising and subjective look at the backstage world and routines of the creative process that destroys the myths about the great couturier, and was violently opposed by Saint-Laurent’s partner, Pierre Berger — after which it was banned from screenings for seven years.

Der Goldene Handschuh
09:10. Crime, Drama, Horror. Germany, France 2019, 115 min. Directed by Fatih Akin. Starring: Jonas Dassler, Adam Bousdoukos, Marc Hosemann. In German with Russian subtitles. Set against a grimy depiction of director Fatih Akin’s native Hamburg, The Golden Glove is based on the true story of serial killer Fritz Honka, who between 1970 and 1975 murdered at least four women, stashing their dismembered and decomposing corpses in his small attic apartment. The film, based on a novelized version of Honka’s story by Heinz Strunk, is intentionally, bracingly ugly, a confrontationally gore-splattered semi-comedy that simultaneously challenges and engages in the trappings of exploitation cinema.

19:00 Studio 54
Beat Film Festival. Documentary. USA 2018, 98 min. Directed by Matt Tyrnauer. In English with Russian subtitles. Studio 54 was the epicenter of 70s hedonism - a place that not only redefined the nightclub, but also came to symbolize an entire era. Its co-owners, Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell, two friends from Brooklyn, seemed to come out of nowhere to suddenly preside over a new kind of New York society. Now, 39 years after the velvet rope was first slung across the club's hallowed threshold, a feature documentary tells the real story behind the greatest club of all time.
