Together with his father, he leaves his native Bangladesh and moves to France. In their attempt to get political asylum, they encountered many difficulties. However, Fahim was lucky enough to makes the acquaintance of Sylvain, one of the best chess coaches in France. Beginning from mutual distrust, they became true friends. Faced with the threat of deportation, Fahim understood that he had only one chance at redemption: becoming the French champion.

Over the four weeks that they spent together isolated from the whole world, the two men’s strange relationship shift from friendship to mutual hatred many times, and by the end of his service, Ephraim won’t be the same man he was before.
