21:30 Billy Wilder Retrospective: Kiss Me, Stupid
Comedy. USA 1964, 124 min. Directed by Billy Wilder. Starring: Dean Martin, Kim Novak, Ray Walston. In English with Russian subtitles. There's a sensation in backwoods Climax, Nevada: famous singer Dino (Dean Martin, practically playing himself), who is passing through the town, has to stop because of car trouble. A mechanic and a music teacher, who compose songs together and dream of fame, decide to take advantage of the opportunity and puts him up in the latter's house. Having sent his beloved wife to his mother-in-law, he invites a girl by the name of Polly the Pistol and stocks up on wine: while Dino flirts with his "wife," the music teacher, Orville, plays the piano non-stop. Initially, the roles of Orville and Polly the Pistol were supposed to be played by Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe, the stars of "Some Like it Hot," but the former's hectic schedule and the latter's untimely death forced Billy Wilder to delay filming. The new cast ended up outstanding: Walston and Novak played one of the most complex comedies in the history of middle America. And that’s without considering Dean Martin – in the director's words, the funniest man in Hollywood.

19:30 Exhibition on Screen: Rembrandt
Exhibition film. Great Britain 2014, 96 min. Directed by Phil Grabsky. In English with Russian subtitles. Every Rembrandt exhibition is eagerly anticipated, but this major new show hosted by London’s National Gallery and Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum is an event like no other. This film explores each of the exhibition’s key works, through contributions from specially invited guests including curators and leading art historians.
