An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn
21:10. Comedy, Crime. UK, USA 2018, 108 min. Directed by Jim Hosking. Starring: Aubrey Plaza, Matt Berry, Emile Hirsch, Jemaine Clement, Craig Robinson. In English with Russian subtitles. Lulu Danger is growing bored in a dull marriage with Shane, the owner of a fast food restaurant, who fires her from her job and locks her up at home with nothing to do but watch stupid TV shows. One day, she sees an ad for "An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn; For One Magical Night Only." Lulu becomes obsessed: to meet this mysterious actor, she is ready to run from her tyrannical husband and even steal his money. Shane gives chase, and thus begins a series of wild, absurd, stupid, and gut-busting hilarious events that make audiences remember David Lynch, Wes Anderson, and black-and-white silent comedies with their chases and banana-peel slips all at once.

The Imagined Wolf (Myslennyy volk)
19:15. Drama, Fantasy. Russia 2019, 70 min. Directed by Valeria Gay-Germanika. Starring: Yulia Vysotskaya, Liza Klimova, Fyodor Lavrov. In Russian with English subtitles. This new film by Valeria Gay-Germanika is a hybrid of a scary fairytale, folk story, and a phantasmagorical game of mother and daughter. On the edge of a pitch-black forest, where terrifying wolves roam, a lonely mother lives in a hut β€” one who dances in clubs by night and enslaves the few men who happen upon her by day. Her daughter and her small child come to visit in order to convince her to sell the house nd come back to the city, their family, and regular life. Their fears, hurts, and deeply hidden complaints about each other become entwined in a knot which cannot be untangled, only cut apart β€” or burnt alive along with the rest of them.
