When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

In his native village, everything belongs to the cruel “queen of cigarettes,” Marchese De Luna, and the residents are practically her slaves. The Marchese’s son Tancredi runs from home, having engineered his own kidnapping, and a strange friendship strikes up between him and Lazzaro. When he loses track of his friend in the big city, Lazzaro sets off in search of him, making a unique journey through space and time. The film won best screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film features the brightest stars in contemporary French film: Louis Garrel (Robespierre), Laurent Lafitte (Louis XVI), Denis Lavant (Marat), and others.
