A pair of young, pretty students come to New York for the weekend. She is a timid Arizona native who is supposed to do an interview with a famous film director for her university newspaper. He was born and raised on the Upper East Side and wants to show the girl the romantic New York that she has only ever seen in films. But the events of the day pull them in different directions, introduce them to new people, bring dreams to life and offer temptations that are so difficult to resist in this city — especially when you’re still so young.

A feel-good film with charm and humor as well as surprising insight into our evolving understanding of gender identity across generations, this marks the first queer film from prolific young British director Jamie Patterson.

That’s when the strict teacher goes all-out, deciding to permit himself everything that had previously been forbidden. Weed, alcohol, one-night stands, and most importantly, the ability to speak the truth to people’s faces and not fit into the generally accepted rules: all of these become his new favorite pastimes. Richard’s joyous crusade against authority and hypocrisy gives his wife a shock and is met with shouts of joy by his students.

Opera buffa, tragedy, romantic drama, symbolist poetry, slapstick comedy… all genres are called upon to give life to this staging of one of the most emblematic texts of the French repertoire!
