A Rainy Day in New York
19:35. Melodrama, Comedy. USA 2019, 92 min. Directed by Woody Allen. Starring: Timothee Chalamet, Elle Fanning, Jude Law, Selena Gomez, Liev Schreiber, Diego Luna. In English with Russian subtitles. Can one rainy day change your life forever? Only Woody Allen can answer that question with his trademark melancholic humor and wise irony. A pair of young, pretty students come to New York for the weekend. She is a timid Arizona native who is supposed to do an interview with a famous film director for her university newspaper. He was born and raised on the Upper East Side and wants to show the girl the romantic New York that she has only ever seen in films. But the events of the day pull them in different directions, introduce them to new people, bring dreams to life and offer temptations that are so difficult to resist in this city — especially when you’re still so young.

An atmospheric arthouse folk tale set in the hills of Wales during the industrial revolution. In 19th Century Snowdonia, a girl tries to hold her home together. Struggling with her mother’s mysterious illness, her father’s absence and a mining company encroaching on their land. A growing darkness begins to take a grip of her home, and the suspicious community turns on Gwen and her family.

17:50. Comedy, Melodrama. USA 1931, 87 min. Directed by Charles Chaplin. Starring: Charles Chaplin, Virginia Cherrill, Harry Myers, Jack Alexander, Al Ernest Garcia, Hank Mann. The little masterpieces of Charlie Chaplin are coming back to the big screen. All films will be screened with the original soundtrack and Russian subtitles. “City Lights” is Chaplin’s last silent film, which was shot during the years of the Great Depression and gave audiences the chance to believe in a happy fairy tale. As he traipses around the streets of the big city, the Tramp meets a blind flower girl. He buys a flower with the last of his money, but the girl takes him to be a rich man. When he finds out that an expensive operation could return her sight, the Tramp sets off in search of money, winding up in funny, awkward, and sometimes even tragicomic situations.

09:20. Drama. France 2019, 119 min. Directed by Celine Sciamma. Starring: Noemie Meriant, Adele Haenel, Luana Bajrami, Valerina Golino, Christel Baras. In French with Russian subtitles. France, 1770. Marianne is a young artist who is commissioned to paint a portrait of Heloise, a rich heiress from Briittany. The portrait is a wedding gift for the groom that her parents have chosen for her, and Heloise refuses to pose. Marianne arrives at their estate as chaperone in order to take Heloise for long walks along the seashore by day and draw her in secret at night. But the more time the girls spend together, the more their mutual attraction grows. The portrait becomes an act of liberation and witness to their love, doomed to fade quickly from the face of the earth but remain forever in their hearts. The film won best screenplay at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.

Sorry We Missed You
13:40. Drama. UK, France, Belgium 2019, 101 min. Directed by Ken Loach. Starring: Kris Hitchen, Debbie Honeywood, Harriet Ghost, Nikki Marshall, Rhys Stone. In English with Russian subtitles. The Turners are an ordinary British family that just can’t get out of debt after the 2008 recession. Ricky was a builder, but lost his job. Now he is scrounging up enough money for a truck and finding work with a delivery service. In order to cover his costs, he has to work 14 hours a day, which means that Ricky hardly sees his family. His wife Abbie has an equally hard time taking care of the elderly and infirm. They start to displace their exhaustion and annoyance on their teenage children, and although the family used to be friends with each other and feel a very strong connection, the growing mass of problems threatens to ruin them.

Terminator: Dark Fate
21:30. Fantasy, Action, Adventure. USA, China 2019, 128 min. Directed by Tim Miller. Starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mackenzie Davis, Edward Furlong, Linda Hamilton, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna. In English with Russian subtitles. 27 years after the events of “Terminator 2,” Sarah Connor has gone on the hunt for cyborg killers. But it wasn’t enough to save her son John. Now humanity’s survival depends on a girl named Dani Ramos. In order to destroy her, the Legion network (which has replaced Skynet) has sent a new model of Terminator from the future, even more advanced and deadly than before. To protect Dani, Grace arrives: a perfect soldier, a person turned into a cyborg. However, in order to save humanity once again — and this time, forever — Sarah and her friends won’t be able to manage without the original Terminator T-800.

The Addams Family

The extravagant Addams family is back, now as a feature-length animated film, terribly funny and exquisitely dark. They wear black, love cemeteries, never smile, live in a scary house with ghosts on the top of a hill — and feel great about it. At the bottom of the hill, there is an ideal little town, full of pastel-colored houses, green pastures, and joyful smiles. One of the residents thinks that the Addams family doesn’t quite fit into the overall picture, and they decide to declare war on their strange neighbors. But the Addams family values have never been stronger!
