09:30 The Limehouse Golem
Thriller. Great Britsain 2016, 105 min. Directed by Juan Carlos Medina. Starring: Olivia Cooke, Bill Nighy, Douglas Booth. In English with Russian subtitles. A series of cruel murders shocks Victorian London, and Inspector Kildare takes on the investigation. The terrified residents suspect that the culprit is the Golem – a mythical clay creature, brought to life through magic. Kildare follows the maniac's trails, which seem to provide clear hints for the inspector, and unearths a connection between these mystical events and another case which he is working on: former music hall actress Lizzie Cree is suspected of murdering her own husband. If Kildare can't handle the London Golem, then Elizabeth will go to the gallows. A historical crime thriller by Juan Carlos Medina, with a screenplay by Jane Goldman ("X-Men, "Kingsman," "The Woman in Black"), based in turn on Peter Ackroyd's detective novel. In Ackroyd's usual manner, real historical figures (like Karl Marx and George Gissing) exist in parallel with invented characters, and literature seeps out into real life.
