 Moscow City Symphony “Russian Philharmonic”, Conductor Dmitry Jurowski. South-Ossetian soprano Veronika Dzhioeva graduated from the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in 2005, having studied under renowned professor Tamara Novichenko. She is a leading soloist of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet and a guest soloist of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky theatres. She won first prize at the World Vision International competition (Astrakhan 1998), third prize at the All-Russian Competition of Opera Singers (St Petersburg 2005), third prize at the Maria Callas Grand Prix (Athens 2003), first prize at the Amber Nightingale Competition of Chamber Music singing (Kaliningrad 2006), second prize at the Klaudia Teaev International (Parnu 2007) and won the Paradise prize for her performance of Lady Macbeth. From January to February 2013 Veronika played a role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni which was performed on stage at the Wortham Theater Center and Houston Grand Opera. She then moved with the play to Vermont where she played the same role in November of the same year and a year later performed as Elizabeth in a third production of Don Carlos.
