19:00 Jean-Baptiste Robin (France)
The outstanding French musician Jean-Baptiste Robin is organist at the Royal Chapel at the palace of Versailles, a professor and teacher of organ studies at the Conservatoire Régional de Versailles. Jean-Baptiste Robin graduated from the Conservatoire National de Paris, receiving first prize in seven disciplines – organ, harmony, counterpoint, 16th century composition, 20th century composition, orchestration and basso continuo. In 2010 the musician became the organist of the Royal Chapel at the palace of Versailles. His predecessors in this post have included such renowned musicians as François Couperin, Louis Marchand, Louis-Claude Daquin and Claude Balbastre. The organist has toured to great acclaim in Europe, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Canada and over twenty states in America. The musician’s discography includes recordings of the complete works of Jehan Alain (Brillant Classics), Felix Mendelssohn, Louis Marchand (Triton), François Couperin and an anthology of his own works. These recordings have won lavish critical praise and been presented with prestigious awards both in Europe (the Diapason d’or de l’année, the Choc award from Monde de la Musique magazine, recommendation by Classica magazine) and internationally (reviews in the newspaper Dallas Morning News and the magazines American Organist, Fanfare and Gramophone).
