 Ballet in three acts to music by Ludwig Minkus. 195 min (with two intervals). La Bayad?re is one of the most famous ballets of the Russian imperial stage. This creation by Marius Petipa to the music by Ludwig Minkus and the libretto by Sergei Khudekov saw the light in 1877 and immediately became popular. All the great ballerinas have dreamt of dancing the main part, that of the bayadere Nikiya. The Bayad?re’s best adornment is the Shadows scene, which proved an example of sublime harmony on the ballet stage. The scene’s popularity might only be rivaled by, if any, that of the “white scenes” of Swan Lake. All the subsequent versions of the ballet, of which the 20th century has seen quite a few, any innovations and alterations notwithstanding, have been made with the intent to keep the original Shadows intact to a maximum degree. The outstanding ballerina Natalia Makarova staged her own version of La Bayadere in 1980. It is not as pompous or populous as the original yet preserves all the major qualities of the Petipa’s masterpiece. Makarova’s version proved so successful that it has been added to the armories of many a European theater.

 Ballet The Snow Queen is a big choreographic form that will be presented by artistic director of the ballet company Maxim Sevagin. The eponymous Andersen’s fairy-tale served as a source of inspiration for the narrative line of the play. The choreographer chose fragments from symphonies by Tchaikovsky as musical accompaniment for his artwork. «The play based on fairytale of Hans Christian Andersen to music by the Great Russian composer Petr Tchaikovsky will be the fabulous dance embodiment of the classic plot», – choreographer shares his concept. «It was my childhood dream to stage this artwork. I’ve been thinking through the idea of creation of this ballet for more than ten years. The fairy-tale of Andersen is incredibly beneficial material. There are many colorful characters, Christian philosophy motives, theme of the road, growth, transformation on the way to perfection». The choreographer remains true to the narrative line of the literary resource – the story of Kai and Gerda. Maxim Sevagin chose fragments from the Fourth, the Fifth and the Sixth symphonies by Tchaikovsky as a musical basis for his artwork. Thus, he became the continuator of traditions of the theatre and of the famous choreographer Vladimir Burmeister, who put on the original ballet «Snow Maiden» based on the Ostrovsky fairy-tale, using the autographed score form Tchaikovsky musical works. «The Snow Queen» is two-act play, in which participates the whole ballet company of the theatre. The ballet is targeting at the grownups and children from 6 years of age.
