Andrew Moore was always keen on everything happening behind the Iron Curtain. In 1980s, he visited Russia and other communist countries many times. Watching that “other” world he created his “other” photographs. Even now Andrew has photo sessions in ex-communist and still-communist countries, in Russia, Cuba, Vietnam… He created very personal and strong pictures, collected in the album by Chronicle Books / San Francisco. The Moscow audience has a chance to see with their own eyes red piano “Moskva” or red ice breaker “Akademik Fedorov”, many soviet interiors and architectural fragments. |

| Jocelyn Bain-Hogg: The Firm |
'Pobeda' in WinZavod presents Jocelyn Bain-Hogg's 'The Firm'. These are the faces of The Firm, a misalliance of confederates concerned with the pursuit of Company policy, the rules of engagement, the Company profits. And they are faces that tell their own story. Since Brighton Rock in the 1940s photographers and film directors have been trying to capture the personalities and characteristics of the British urban gangster on film. For the first time Jocelyn Bain Hogg has the real thing, the weft and warp of the faces to whom violence is common currency and to whom loyalty is above all. These are not the faces of criminals who hide behind the facade of respectability or the corruption of political influence. They are, in fact, the real thing, men who hold their head up when challenged, and who seek no false redemption in the face of public vilification. After all, this is their job. Welcome to their world. WinZavod |

Painting, graphics, sculpture, photography, performance, installations. Kandinsky Award 2008 aims to develop Russian modern art, find new interesting projects and artists, define basic tendencies of the artistic process, influence its cultural-aesthetic content, involve new participants and strengthen positions on the world scene. The award takes place for the second time, and this year the exhibition of the nominees moved from WinZavod to the Central House of Artists and took 3,500 square meters. Just like last year, this time everything is exhibited alternately – Siniye Nosy (Blue Noses), Aidan Salakhova, Sergey Shekhovtsov, Sergey Chilikov, Dmitry Tsvetkov – and just like last year it looks a bit absurdly. One of the most brilliant artists of BritArt, exhibition curator, professor and critic - Martin Maloney presents his works in Gary Tatintsian Gallery. He always focuses on a human being - from a fragile boy living in the metrosexual time to a little girl who thinks of herself as a wise experienced woman (Sarah J.Parker parody). Maloney defines his works as a hymn to ordinary people, whose history he tries to present through the colouful, simple and a little bit naïve pictures. Maloney wants his works to be a kind of illustration to the present time which would tell our progenies about big cities life in the epoch of glamour and permissive society.
