A colorful, comic folk opera by Rimsky-Korsakov based on Pushkin's verse tale about an astrologer who presents his king with a miracle-working bird. The opera is directed by Kirill Serebrennikov who has transfered the action of Pushkin's fairy tale from Imperial Russia to the present day. Cast, many of whom participated in a previous version of the "The Golden Cockerel" staged in 1988, is reinforced by Alexandra Cubas (Poland), Jeff Martin (tenor, USA) and Alexander Teliga. Conducted by Vassily Sinaisky. Read more Bolshoi Theater New Stage |
