Alevtina Polyakova (trombone/vocal/saxophone) and Solar Wind band will perform popular melodies from Soviet and foreign films in jazz arrangements. Alevtina Polyakova is a pure jazz lady, alumna of Gnesins Academy of Music who chose trombone as the ball of her perfect eye and jazzy ear. Starting recently on a professional scene, she has played with many Russian and international bands like Igor Butman Big Band and Anatoly Kroll Jazz Orchestra, featured nights along with Wayne Shorter, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Terence Blanchard, to name a few. In 2013, Alevtina was invited by UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Herbie Hancock to join the Global concert celebrating International Jazz Day in Istanbul. Awardee of the 7th all-Russian jazz contest in Rostov-upon-Don, she performed at Montreux Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz, Jazz a Juan, Triumph of Jazz, and GG Jazz festivals all over Europe. Today, does she not only play trombone and arrange tunes for big bands, but also sings, composes original music and leads her own band called ‘Solar Wind’. Best Russian musicians of today jazz scene join Alevtina Polyakova in ‘Solar Wind’ project, viz. Makar Novikov (d-bass), Ignat Kravtsov (drums), Artem Tretyakov (g-piano). Being laureates of Russian and international contests for musicians in jazz and classics, they all contribute their personalities to the common sound of the band. Their repertoire comprises both originally arranged jazz standards, and authentic pieces by Alevtina Polyakova. Her charm and charisma along with broad-based music knowledge and drive let ‘Solar Wind’ blow differently from the main current. Having their own specifics in sound and styling, the band combine jazz, fusion, ethnic and classics to create a mix of contemporary music. MMDM Chamber Hall |
