Big Boss ManBig Boss Man (UK) at Luch! Big Boss Man sound is a hip Hammond hybrid of 60's and 70's drenched Rn'B, funk, Latin, jazz, soul and pop! Their debut 2001's Humanize was used exclusively as the soundtrack for the BAFTA nominated short film "Sweet" featuring The Mighty Boosh, the band actually performing in the nightclub sequences in the film. BBM were commissioned for two remix versions of Paul Wellers UK Top 20 hit "The Bottle", both of which featured on a limited 7-only version of the single which sold out on the day of release. Since its release, tracks have been licensed to several European and US compilations including "The Thievery Corporations Outernational Sound. BBM have built up a loyal following touring extensively in the UK and Europe. They have taken their infectious ramshackle road-show around Spain (selling out 500+ venues), and through Germany and Italy. They have played 3 times huge festivals in France, as well as being invited by Artemy Troitsky (Russias answer to John Peel) for a special one-off in Moscow, all of which have helped them earn their deserved reputation as the punks of Hammond funk! Mumiy TrollNew Year's Night 2010: Mumiy Troll! Mumiy Troll (pronounced Moo-me Troll) is undoubtedly the most influential Russian band since the fall of the Soviet regime. Mumiy Troll actually left their mark on rock history with startling albums and live performances bursting with energy, warmth and total debauchery. The band was formed in 1981 in Vladivostok by Ilya Lagutenko. The literal name of the band, mummy troll, has no specific meaning in Russian, and is reminiscent of the Tove Jansson’s characters, the Moomintrolls. Contemporary Russian music is divided into what was before and what came after “Mumiy Troll”. The frontman and creator of the band, Ilya Lagutenko, defined their music as “rockapops” just to avoid pointless Russian media debates on the definition of what is rock and what is pop. “Mumiy Troll” initiated entirely new musical trend copied now by Russian wannabees and mainstream artists. Ilya Lagutenko's talent, irreproachable taste and hard work influenced development of contemporary cultural trends in his country right from their origin. Start - 22:00
