Puccini's opera will be performed by Russian National Orchestra, Conductor Pier Giorgio Morandi and Amalia Gogeshvili (soprano). Pier Giorgio Morandi played for ten years as principal oboist in Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala in Milan. He studied composition at Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan, and orchestra conducting at Salzburg Mozarteum with Maestro Ferdinand Leitner. He is at present Principal Guest Conductor at Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra. Soprano Amalia Gogeshvili was born in Moscow. She graduated from the Schnittke College of Music (vocal faculty, Professor Lidia Abramova’s class), the Ippolitov-Ivanov State Institute of Music and Pedagogy (faculty of music theory) and the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire (class of the great Russian tenor, Professor Zurab Sotkilava). Upon graduating from the conservatoire in 2006 she undertook postgraduate studies there. In 2004 Amalia was awarded a GRAND PRIX of the International Festival Lumineux Des Arts “Le Paon Lumineux” for Opera Singers. Through 2005 and 2007 Amalia was trained in Italy by reputable coaches. In 2006 she was invited to join the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre. Violetta Valéry in La traviata and Musetta in La Bohème became the singer’s first roles there. Up to 2012 she used to perform at the theatre as an opera soloist. Since 2013 Amalia has been playing the lead role in Madama Butterfly at the world-renowned Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. The soloist has worked with such celebrated conductors as Vladimir Spivakov, Mikhail Pletnev, Marco Boemi, Miloš Krejčí, Vladimir Ziva, Anton Orlov, Felix Korobov, Wolf Gorelik, Vladimir Ponkin, Alexander Petukhov, etc. MMDM Svetlanov Hall |
