Tchaikovsky based on Heinrich Hertz's dramatic poem "Koenig Renes Tochter" about a blind princess who is cured by the love of a man who violates the king's order not to tell the girl of her blindness. Bolshoi Theater New Stage

An opera in three acts by Italian composer Guiseppe Verdi, stage director Francesca Zambello and music director Laurent Campellone. Conducted by Laurent Campellone. The first performance of the opera was on 6 March 1853 at the La Fenice opera house in Venice. Today, the opera has become immensely popular and it is a staple of the standard operatic repertoire. It is second on the Operabase list of the most-performed operas worldwide, behind only The Magic Flute. More info
