19:00 The Tsar's Bride
Premiere of the opera by N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov directed by Dmitry Belyanushkin. Musical director – Arif Dadashev. September 20, 21 and 22 Musical Theater named after K.S. Stanislavsky and Vl.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko will present the premiere of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride directed by Dmitry Belyanushkin under the musical direction of Arif Dadashev. The scenographic solution of the performance was invented and developed by Alexander Arefiev, costume designer was Svetlana Tegin. Director Dmitry Belyanushkin invites the viewer to look into the future through the prism of the past, transferring the action of the opera to the conditional time of 2072. The director reflects on the dystopia of the future world. The monarchy returned to the country and the residence of the king is again located in the Alexander Sloboda. A picture of the revival of traditional Russian culture and the monarchical system is presented. The costumes of the characters are also designed in a stylized historical style, which will return in the future and become part of the country’s life. Following the composer, Dmitry Belyanushkin raises the themes of human free will and the will of God as the cornerstones of the Russian worldview: “This story is about people who want to live in hope for future happiness. In the center of the story is Dirty, who, in the pursuit of personal happiness, destroys everything around and only at the end comes to repentance. The history of the world has a spiral structure, but I want to believe that the events of our opera will not be repeated.”
