Opera in four acts by the music of Giuseppe Verdi. Libretto by François-Joseph Méry and Camille du Locle. Original Italian translation by Achille De Lauzières, revised by Angelo Zanardini. "Milan" version 1884. Conductors: Robert Treviño, Giacomo Sagripanti. Stage Director - Adrian Noble. Set Designer - Tobias Hoheisel. Costume Designer - Moritz Junge. Lighting Designer - Jean Kalman. The premiere of "Don Carlos" is dedicated to the Giuseppe Verdi Bicentennial. The production is by the well-known English director Adrian Noble, for many years artistic director of The Royal Shakespeare Company at Stratford-on-Avon (England), celebrated for his charismatic productions of Shakespeare's plays and who works on a regular basis in opera. He has done productions for New York's Met, Rome Opera, Vienna State Opera, Lyons Opera.

Eric Owens is the knight on a quest of love and Susanna Phillips is his lover on the other side of the sea. Conductor Susanna Mälkki makes her Met debut.
