20:00 California Breed (USA)
California BreedCalifornia Breed, the new band of 2014, built around the foundation of legendary vocalist-bassist Glenn Hughes, drummer extraordinaire Jason Bonham and 23-year-old newcomer guitarist-singer-songwriter Andrew Watt. Mixing massive riffs, gutsy vocals and gale force rhythms, this powerful three-piece band released their self-titled debut album on May 20, 2014 on Frontiers Records. It was produced by Dave Cobb (Jamey Johnson, Rival Sons, Shooter Jennings). California Breed was recorded at Cobb's Nashville studio and features equal co-writing credits among the three-man lineup. "It's proper rock," Hughes told Classic Rock magazine, "but at the same time it's very now. Andrew is as influenced by Mick Ronson as he is Jimmy Page." "This kid is amazing," says Bonham. "The first time we met I thought he looked like the white Jimi Hendrix. And he plays in the studio like he's on stage!" Glenn Hughes, "The Voice of Rock", is a true original, a legendary icon whose credits include Deep Purple and guesting with everyone from Black Sabbath to Earth, Wind & Fire - up to his most recent collaboration in rock supergroup Black Country Communion. No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. That astonishing voice is Hughes' calling card. The legacy of Led Zeppelin lives on in Jason Bonham, British drummer and son of ZEP's legendary John Bonham. He has inherited the best of his father's skills while mastering his own distinctive and dynamic technique. Jason has followed his own distinctive path over the years, fronting his own successful outfits like Bonham, and playing with Led Zeppelin, Foreigner, Heart and, most recently, movie composer Hans Zimmer. Andrew Watt is a soulful singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose high-energy aggressive style and creative spirit are synonymous with New York City. Hughes says: "I live in the moment, it's all about now. California Breed is exactly where I live, breathe and where my freak flag flies." Produced by Dave Cobb, California Breed album found the new band in full-on classic power trio mode, mixing big riffs, poweful vocals and sledgehammer drums. The set entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at number 78. More info

19:00 Diary of Dreams (Germany), The Beauty of Gemina (Switzerland)
Diary of DreamsThe German gothic/darkwave group Diary of Dreams began in the late '80s as the side-project of singer/songwriter Aidan Hates, who at the time was also a member of the similarly-minded Garden of Delight. Hates collaborated with guitarist Alistair Kane on Diary of Dreams' first album, 1994's Cholymelan. Two years later, the duo returned with End of Flowers, which they released on Hates' Accession label. 1997 saw the release of Bird Without Wings and increasing popularity for the group; by 1998 they had released another album Psychoma? and added two band members, Olaf Schaning and Christian Berghoff. A best-of collection, Moments of Bloom, arrived the following year and became Diary of Dream's first domestically released album in the US; One of 18 Angels followed in early 2000. The last 11th Diary of Dreams' studio album Elegies in Darkness was released in March 2014 via Accession Records. The name of the album speaks for itself - the new work couldn't have been deeper, darker, more organic or more melancholic. The listeneres dip into deep and viscous soundscapes made from touching ballads and pulsating club hymns. The overwhelming co-existence of synthetic sounds and classical stylistics has always been the main attraction that provides the unusual and extraordinary characteristics of Diary of Dreams, as - without doubt - this new album proves once again. After their big German tour in support of the new album the band has played in different European countries and some selected festivals. In June Diary of Dreams announced a concert in Russia end of the year. The Beauty of Gemina has been welcomed to the relevant scene at the latest from the release of their much praised release Iscariot Blues (2012) and its acoustic successor The Myrrh Sessions (2013) achieved to consolidate the status of the swiss band. Their rise is documented in an impressive list of gigs at home and abroad - countless of them as openers for acts like Smashing Pumpkins, Unheilig, Rammstein, Hurts, DAF or the Damned. Comparisons of the singing voice of vocalist and frontman Michael Sele with Nick Cave, David Bowie or Dave Gahan are inevitable. Breath-taking and extraordinary live shows have made the headstrong goth and folk wave band to a "spearhead of the international wave scene." On 21st of February The Beauty of Gemina will release their sixth oeuvre: Ghost Prayers is an ode to melancholia, performed in elegant pathos by an engrossed- fragile man with the voice of a colossus. Entirely in the tradition of The Beauty Of Gemina to cross genres consequently, the sonorous singing of Michael on Ghost Prayers fuses facile with steely Industrial-Beats and agile Folk-Rhythms. Already on the single Mariannah (released in December 2013) The Beauty of Gemina lives the border crossing between dull gloom and wise optimism that left its mark on the whole album. More info

20:00 Yoav (UK)
YoavBorn in Cape Town, South Africa, progressive singer/songwriter Yoav was interested in music from a young age. When Yoav was nine-year-old boy he began sneaking to his neighbour's house to listen to Wham! and OMD. At Yoav's house, such "light music" was banned. Only classical and opera would waft through their home. By the time he was 12, Yoav was waiting until his parents had gone to bed before quietly practising on the battered guitar his elder brother had given him. "I'd had to play instruments that I hated since I was four, things like the piano and the cello," he says. "I guess the guitar was my way of rebelling." When he was 15, he went to see a Crowded House show. "They did a thing where they asked if anyone in the crowd wanted to come up and sing," he says....Next thing I know I was on stage in front of 15,000 people. I started singing 'Into Temptation' and the place just went nuts. I did the whole song and then got this massive ovation." Suitably encouraged, Yoav began to focus on his own songwriting. By the time he finished high school at 18, he was regularly demoing his songs in local studios. An avid songwriter by his teens, Yoav dropped out of college and spent a year in London shopping a demo of his songs around, to little label interest. Then, a call from his cousin, who had passed the demo along to a producer in the United States, brought Yoav to New York City, where he began playing local gigs. Compared to Cape Town, the city was a thrilling sensory playground. At this point, Yoav's music was what he describes as "pretty conventional singer-songwriter stuff." Yoav had stumbled upon his new direction. Around the same time, Yoav became increasingly influenced by electronic music and the club/dance culture that surrounded it. Looking to infuse his more traditional singer/songwriter compositions with this electronic vibe, Yoav discovered a more rhythmic, percussive way of playing the guitar and began writing music this way. "As a songwriter, the guitar limits you to strumming or picking. It's very different if you can write something to a beat. I tried to translate dance music to guitar. I started pounding it, learning what I could do with it, using it as my decks. You can get an assortment of kick drums and snare drums by hitting it in different places or a synthy sound by playing with feedback. The more I did it, the more possibilities I found. It became all-consuming for me." Yoav moved to the U.K. in 2006 and began shopping his new tracks around to different labels, eventually signing with Field Recordings. He released his debut album, Charmed & Strange, in 2008. It's a record that sounds unlike anything else around, edgy and original, but with the tunes to light up daytime radio. "I've been told it sounds like Damien Rice produced by the Neptunes, or an acoustic Nine Inch Nails, or Beck meets Buckley meets Bjork. I'm not sure any of those is right. I guess I'd just say it's left-of-centre pop music inspired by all the big themes in my life and all the music I've been into. It's been a huge and often frustrating journey to get me here." Yoav allows himself a smile. "But it's definitely been worth it." Since Yoav's critically acclaimed debut album, Charmed and Strange, he has sold out headline shows in Canada, the U.S., and Europe. He also embarked on a North American tour with Tori Amos, on which he sold over 9,000 copies of his album in three months. Yoav has also been featured as a "Single of the Week" artist on iTunes Canada. He also achieved a #1 song in Russia, where he also received a special RAMP award (Rock Alternative Music Prize) in recognition of his achievements. After only one radio session in Denmark, Charmed and Strange climbed to number one on that country's iTunes album chart within 24 hours. His next albums Foolproof Escape Plan and Blood Vine followed in 2010 and 2012 accordingly. "I've never felt this way after finishing an album. I feel depleted because I immersed myself so fully in the experience. But I have this warmth in my belly from bringing these songs to life - it's awesome," Yoav told about Blood Vine. More info
