"Romantic Concertos" program will be performed by Ivan Pochekin (violin), Radek Baborak (french horn, Czech Republic) and National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia conducted by Charles Olivieri-Munroe (Canada), who is increasingly recognized in the international press for his innovative programming, interpretation of Slavic repertoire and his passion for purity of orchestral sound. The program includes Concerto for violin and orchestra by Schumann, "The Poem of Ecstasy" by Scryabin, Concerto # 1 for horn and orchestra by Strauss (to the 150th anniversary to the composer's birth) and overture "The Hussit" by Dvorak. Ivan Pochekin is a young Russian violinist, who is notable for winning first prize in the 2005 Third Paganini Moscow International Violin Competition. He also won second place in the 8th International Vaclav Huml Violin Competition. His recordings of romantic music have gained a wide popularity among music lovers in Russia and abroad. Ivan has studied significant archives in Russia, Liechtenstein and Croatia. He regularly participates in international festivals together with many leading chamber and symphony orchestras including the Moscow Philharmonic, the Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra (Croatia), the Oviedo Philharmonic Orchestra (Spain) and the German Chamber Orchestra, and he has collaborated with such acclaimed conductors as Friedrich Haider, Yevgeny Bushkov, Alexander Skulsky and Sergei Skripka to name but a few. He has appeared at many of the world's major concert halls, among them the Moscow State Conservatoire, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb, the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo and the Auditorium in Oviedo among others. Radek Baborak is one of the most exceptional hornist, winner of ARD Munich, Geneve and many others international competitions a former principal hornist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist, he is a frequent guest of leading orchestras and cooperates with top conductors. His repertoire comprises of the complete horn work from baroque until the present. In 2000 Baborak became the principal hornist in the Berliner Philharmoniker with whom he, for instance, played as a soloist at the Salzburg Easter Festival. Tchaikovsky Concert Hall |
