20:00 ICQ-project Ensemble (Russia)
ICQ-project will perform at the closing of the first concert season of "Art Plener". In program Frederic Rzewski, Stephen Reich. ICQ-project is an ensemble that gathers on one stage some of the best young musicians and unites academic contemporary music with multimedia and other arts. The ensemble is already known for its non-trivial programs, premieres of compositions by contemporary composers and a new look at the performance of academic music. ICQ-project are: Asya Sorshneva (violin), Constantine Grouss (dance), Ksenia Bashmet (piano), Olga Demina (cello), Evgeny Subbotin (viola), Valentin Azarenkov (clarinet), Maria Alikhanova (flute), Andrey Vinnytsky (vibraphone), Yaroslav Kostrykin (bassoon). Six years ago, the ensemble performed for the first time in Moscow a new work by Steve Reich "Double Sextet", written in 2009 for the award ceremony to the composer of the Pulitzer Prize. Last year the ensemble recorded and included this opus in the album "Vaticination" along with the works of Valentin Silvestrov, Georgy Pelecis and John Adams, somehow connected with the search for the simplest means of expression, combinatorics, focus on a single image or emotional state. Such, for example, is the play-reminiscence of Georg Peletsis, in which the author tried to recreate the music that sounded in his childhood behind the wall of a neighbor apartment. Or the triptych "Roadside Cinema" of the largest American postminualist John Adams, drawing colorful images with the maximum savings of means and techniques (including jazz). Or sonata "Postscriptum" by Silvestrov, a contemplative composition typical of the creativity of this author, a kind of "post-sound" of the Romantic era, filled only occasionally with disturbed peace and bliss.
