Officer K works in a special division of the LAPD, specializing in trapping runaway androids – a blade runner. One day, he is granted access to an ancient secret which, as far as he understands, puts the entirety of human existence in jeopardy. Wishing to find the key to the mystery, K decides to track down Rick Deckard, a former blade runner, who disappeared without a trace many years ago. A sequel to the 1982 masterpiece, filmed by Denis Villeneuve and produced by Ridley Scott. The soundtrack was created by some of the greatest contemporary film composers: Hans Zimmer and Jóhann Jóhannsson.

Desperate to find work and get money to pay his debts, Connie plans a bank robbery. Connie’s partner in this heist is his mentally-challenged brother, Nick. The robbery is a failure, Nick ends up behind bars, and the bag with the money explodes, covering Connie in dye from head to toe. Feeling guilty for what she’s done to her brother, he decides to do whatever it takes to get him away from the police. A drama by Benny Safdie, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. The director himself played the role of Nick, with Robert Pattinson playing opposite as Connie.

In the original with Russian subtitles. The famous festival celebrates its 20th birthday this year. In the programme are two “Sundance” nominees, an experimental animated film from Switzerland, and a Spanish thriller, as well as the first short films in the festival’s history from Georgia and Latvia, among others. Per tradition, the festival screenings will start simultaneously in Moscow and New York, Saint Petersburg and Madrid, Yaroslavl and Prague, Los Angeles and Ekaterinburg, and many other cities.

Exhibition film. UK 2013, 91 min. Directed by Ben Harding. In English with Russian subtitles. In 2013, Norway will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Edvard Munch (1863–1944), a towering figure in modern art. Already hailed as a “once-in-a-lifetime show” global interest is understandably huge, especially after one of his four The Scream paintings recently sold for a record $120 million. Munch 150 will be co-hosted by Norway’s National Museum and Munch Museum, both in Oslo. This exhibition marks the most ambitious presentation of his art ever. With 220 paintings on show, it brings together the greatest number of Munch’s key works in one place. The corresponding cinema event will go behind-the-scenes to show some of the process of putting the exhibition together – as well as touring Norway to provide an in-depth biography of a man who lived from the mid 19th century right through to the German occupation during the Second World War. Norwegian and international experts will offer their insights and knowledge to host Tim Marlow.

An experimental film by Oscar and BAFTA nominee (for “Merry Christmas/Joyeux Noël”) Christian Carion. The film was shot in only six days, and Canet was entirely unfamiliar with the screenplay – he relied on nothing but personal experience and the experience of Mélanie Laurent, who followed her own script to the letter.
