Atomic Blonde

The story of the best agent in Britain’s MI6, Lorraine Broughton (Charlize Theron). Besides being a master of spycraft, Lorraine is an unbelievably attractive woman with an explosive personality. On the eve of the attack on the Berlin Wall, Lorraine is sent to Berlin to retrieve a priceless dossier, and she must join forces with deep agent David Percival (James McAvoy). A screen adaptation of the graphic novel “Coldest City,” by the director of “John Wick” and upcoming “Deadpool 2,” David Leitch.

Thriller. Australia 2017, 116 min. Directed by Cate Shortland. Starring: Teresa Palmer, Max Riemelt, Lucie Aron, Matthias Habich, Emma Bading. In English with Russian subtitles. While on vacation in Berlin, Australian photojournalist Clare meets Andi, a charismatic local who works as a schoolteacher. A mutual attraction sparks up between them, and after a walk through the streets of Berlin, they spend the night together. But what should have been the beginning of a love affair quickly takes a wicked turn: in the morning, Clare discovers that Andi left for work and – by accident or otherwise – has locked her in his apartment. An Australian thriller by director Cate Shortland, present at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. The film is based on the eponymous novel by Melanie Joosten, which itself is reminiscent of John Fowles’ “The Collector.”

Drama. USA, United Kingdom, France 2017, 106 min. Directed by Christopher Nolan. Starring: Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy. In English with Russian subtitles. The beginning of the Second World War. Hundreds of thousands of British and Allied soldiers find themselves surrounded by enemy forces. A decision is made to evacuate the soldiers, trapped on the coast of the English Channel and stuck in a hopeless situation, by sea. Christopher Nolan’s first film based on real events, and dedicated to the Dunkirk evacuation, otherwise known as Operation Dynamo. Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy star in the film, after having worked together in the TV show “Peaky Blinders.” Hans Zimmer composed the soundtrack.

Drama. Great Britain 2016, 89 min. Directed by William Oldroyd. Starring: Florence Pugh, Christopher Fairbank, Cosmo Jarvis, Bill Fellows. In English with Russian subtitles. Victorian England, 1865. The young Katherine is married off to a withered aristocrat – an embittered, despotic person twice her own age. During one of her husband’s long trips, she meets a young worker on the estate, and a passion between them is born. An adaptation of Nikolay Leskov’s “Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District,” set in the English provinces during the 19th century. The film’s world premiere took place at the Toronto International Film Festival.

20:30 The Beguiled
Drama/Western. USA 2017, 95 min. Directed by Sofia Coppola. Starring: Elle Fanning, Kirsten Dunst, Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman. In English with Russian subtitles. The heat of the American Civil War. Wounded corporal John McBurney escapes the field of battle and hides in the woods. 12-year-old Amy helps him, taking him into a cloistered boarding school for girls not far away and giving him first aid. The residents of the boarding school are none too pleased with this, and the corporal is forced to employ all of his charms so as not to be given up to the Confederates. Gradually, the atmosphere in the school comes to a boil – and everyone dreams of winning the dashing young man’s favor. A dramatic Western by Sofia Coppola, based on a novel by Thomas Cullinan. The film was nominated for a Palme d’Or and won the Best Director prize at the previous Cannes Film Festival. With this, Sofia Coppola become the second woman in history to receive the award.

The Dark Tower
14:10, 18:30, 20:40, 22:40. Thriller/Fantasy. USA 2017, 96 min. Directed by Nikolaj Arcel. Starring: Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Abbey Lee, Tom Taylor. In English with Russian subtitles. Roland Deschain, also known as the Gunslinger, sets off for another dimension in search of the legendary Dark Tower – the centre of the Universe, on which a multitude of worlds are hung, as though on an axle. He must beat Walter o’Dim, also known as the Man in Black, who is planning to destroy the Tower and the entire world. The film is based on Stephen King’s series of novels by the same name. Starring Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba.

Wind River
16:00, 00:40. Thriller/Action. United Kingdom, Canada, USA 2017, 110 min. Directed by Taylor Sheridan. Starring: Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Jon Bernthal, Gil Birmingham, Graham Greene. In English with Russian subtitles. Cory Lambert (Jeremy Renner) picked a job where nobody would bother him. At the US Fish and Wildlife Service, he works as a game tracker and tries to keep the population of predators within acceptable limits. One day in the wilderness, on the territory of the Wind River Indian Reservation, he finds the maimed body of a young girl. His “catch” interests not just the local police, but the FBI as well, which sends an agent to investigate. Young agent Jane Banner understands that without a guide on these wild lands, her job will be very difficult, and she turns to Lambert for help. Taylor Sheridan’s second feature-length film, who until recently was best known as a screenwriter and actor (with an Oscar nomination for “Hell or High Water”). The film won an “Un certain regard” award at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
