Blade Runner 2049
14:20, 21:40. Fanatasy/Thriller. USA, Canada, United Kingdom 2017, 163 min. Directed by Denis Villeneuve. Starring: Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Ana de Arms, Dave Bautista. In English with Russian subtitles. Officer K works in a special division of the LAPD, specializing in trapping runaway androids – a blade runner. One day, he is granted access to an ancient secret which, as far as he understands, puts the entirety of human existence in jeopardy. Wishing to find the key to the mystery, K decides to track down Rick Deckard, a former blade runner, who disappeared without a trace many years ago. A sequel to the 1982 masterpiece, filmed by Denis Villeneuve and produced by Ridley Scott. The soundtrack was created by some of the greatest contemporary film composers: Hans Zimmer and Jóhann Jóhannsson.

Drama. Sweden, Denmark, Finland 2017, 107 min. Directed by Janus Metz. Starring: Stellan Skarsgård, Shia LaBeouf, Tuva Novotny. In the original with Russian subtitles. The fateful match of two international tennis stars: the restrained Swede Bjorn Borg (Sverrir Gudnason) and the explosive American John McEnroe (Shia LaBeouf). The face-off concludes with a clash between two contrasting personalities, driven by similar motivations and goals. A drama by Danish director Janus Metz, who also filmed the second season of “True Detective,” dedicated to the famous 1980 Wimbledon final, to be remembered as one of the most famous and charged tennis singles matches of all time.

19:10, 23:30. Documentary. Latvia, Germany, Estonia, Ukraine 2016, 112 min. Directed by Vitaly Mansky. In Russian with English subtitles. A film by one of Russia’s essential documentary directors, Vitaly Mansky (“Pipeline,” “Under the Sun”), dedicated to the director’s life and family relations living in different corners of Ukraine – Lvov, Odessa, Kiev, Donbass, and Crimea. The film’s storyline, shot over the course of the year immediately after the victory on Maidan, follows the events in Crimea and the war in Donbass, exposes the deep roots of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Desperate to find work and get money to pay his debts, Connie plans a bank robbery. Connie’s partner in this heist is his mentally-challenged brother, Nick. The robbery is a failure, Nick ends up behind bars, and the bag with the money explodes, covering Connie in dye from head to toe. Feeling guilty for what she’s done to her brother, he decides to do whatever it takes to get him away from the police. A drama by Benny Safdie, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. The director himself played the role of Nick, with Robert Pattinson playing opposite as Connie.

Exhibition film. UK 2014, 97 min. Directed by Phil Grabsky. In English with Russian subtitles. Celebrate the giant of modern art on the big screen. Audiences are invited to enjoy an intimate, behind-the-scenes documentary about this once-in-a-lifetime blockbuster exhibition with expert contributions from those that knew Matisse as well as curators, historians, Tate director Nicholas Serota and MoMA director Glenn Lowry. Plus there are breathtaking specially commissioned performances by Royal Ballet principal dancer Zenaida Yanowsky and jazz musician Courtney Pine. Acclaimed British actor Simon Russell Beale brings insight and emotion to the words of Henri Matisse himself, while actor Rupert Young (Merlin) narrates.

Endre is the quiet but well-intentioned director of a Hungarian slaughterhouse. He often dreams of turning into a deer, wandering around snowy woods, and hopelessly tries to start a friendship with another graceful animal of the female persuasion. One day, a new coworker named Mária appears, and it turns out that she has the same dreams as Endre. Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi’s surrealistic opus, which won a Golden Bear at the 2017 Berlinale.
