The life of the famous surgeon Finnur has taken a dark turn: he suspects that his eldest daughter Anna has started hanging with the wrong crowd, and that her new boyfriend Óttar is selling drugs and taking his daughter with him. Finnur decides to scare the dirtbag away: in Óttar’s house, police find a baggie of cocaine, and arrest him. Unfortunately, the boy is quickly let go, but he blames his loss – with interest, no less – on Finnur, and threatens to take it out on Anna. The biggest Icelandic blockbuster of 2016, filmed by director and actor Baltasar Kormákur (“Angels of the Universe / Englar alheimsins,” “2 Guns”).

Comedy. Italy 2015, 95 min. Directed by Fabio Bonifacci, Francesco Miccichè. Starring: Marco Giallini, Edoardo Leo, Ivano Marescotti. In Italian with Russian subtitles. At 36, David has a one and only ambition: to win the respect of the president of the company he works for and, in the process, to get a better position with the substantial salary increase going with it. The time seems to have come as he is the author of a revolutionary invention that could help the firm to become more profitable. But before he has time to present the result of his research to his manager, he is accosted by a friendly-looking man who - he will realize too late - his nothing but a con artist. In a matter of a single night, his life is rocked.

But one day, this ability disappears as quickly as it appeared. Taki decides to search out Mitsuha, no matter what, but will they be able to recognize each other in real life? A new film by the hopeless romantic of Japanese animation Makoto Shinkai (“5 Centimeters per Second,” “The Garden of Words”).

Melodrama/Comedy. Mexico, Canada 2016, 100 min. Directed by Roberto Sneider. Starring: Gael Garcia Bernal, Verónica Echegui, Ashley Hinshaw, Jadyn Wong, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson. In Spanish with Russian subtitles. Carefree pretty boy Eligio comes home as the sun rises, but when he wakes up, he realizes that his wife – the aspiring writer and feminist, Susana – has disappeared without so much as a note. The discouraged Eligio begins to search and discovers that Susana, tired of his infantile behavior, has left for America to focus on her writing career. In the hopes of regaining his wife’s love, Eligio sets off after her to the cold wilds of America, where he must clash with a foreign northern culture, international passions, and personal conflicts. A melodrama by Roberto Sneider, the producer of “Frida,” with Gael Garcia Bernal and Verónica Echegui in the leading roles.
