Drama. USA, Israel 2016, 118 min. Directed by oseph Cedar. Starring: Richard Gere, Lior Ashkenazi, Michael Sheen, Dan Stephens, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Steve Buscemi, Hank Azaria. Norman Oppenheimer is the President of New York based Oppenheimer Strategies. His word-of-mouth business is consulting work largely in American-Israeli business and politics, that focus due to being Jewish. Most of that work is as a fixer: doing work that others don't want to do and with which they don't want to be officially associated. In reality, Norman is a shyster, and not a very good one at that. His office is comprised of his cell phone and whatever is stuffed in his satchel which is usually slung over his shoulder as he wanders the streets. What he promises is making connections, setting up a meeting between his guy and the other guy. Generally, "his guy" is non-existent, he dropping names of people he usually doesn't know to make connections. A usual tactic he uses is to say that his deceased wife was personally connected to so-and-so, such as being a babysitter, those stories always untrue. It's the story of a small town gorilla, Sylvio, who is stuck in his job at a debt collection agency. Deep down he just wants to express himself with his hand puppet, Herbert Herpels, and his experimental puppet show that highlights the quiet moments of life. He accidentally joins a local TV program and a series of on-air mishaps threaten to shatter his identity, sending him on an adventure of self-discovery where reality and fantasy start to blend. In Georgian with Russian subtitles. Movie describes real events that took place in 1983 when seven young Georgians, all from intellectual elite families, attampted to flee the Soviet Union by hijacking an airliner. The crisis ended with a storming of the airliner by Soviet special forces that resulted in eight dead. The surviving hijackers were subsequently tried and executed.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

In English with Russian subtitles. A new challenge for the Kingsman secret service: their headquarters has been destroyed, and the whole world is being held hostage by unknown criminals. The super-agents discover that on the very same day that their organization was founded, the Americans founded their secret counterpart: “Statesman.” Now these two elite services must join forces and challenge their common enemy. The second part of Matthew Vaughn’s spy thriller, with Julianne Moore as the lead villain.

A wealthy couple, living in Paris, invites big-name guests to a dinner party. Among the invitees are the mayor of London and other aristocrats. Due to a series of coincidences, a total of 13 guests find themselves at the table. The superstitious hostess has no choice but to ask Maria, her maid, to pretend to be her Spanish friend and join the dinner. As Maria sits at the table incognito, a wealthy collector falls in love with her. A tragicomedy by Amanda Sthers, featuring Toni Collette (Golden Globe for her role in “United States of Tara”) and Rossy de Palma, muse to Pedro Almodovar (“Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown,” “Broken Embraces,” “Julieta”).

Directed by Rosanne Liang, Ángel Gómez Hernández, Stephen Ward, Ben Price, Ignacio Redondo, Pavel Gumennikov, Rana Kazkaz & Anas Khalaf, Marta Savina, Fabio Friedli, Gega Khmaladze. In the original with Russian subtitles. The famous festival celebrates its 20th birthday this year. In the programme are two “Sundance” nominees, an experimental animated film from Switzerland, and a Spanish thriller, as well as the first short films in the festival’s history from Georgia and Latvia, among others. Per tradition, the festival screenings will start simultaneously in Moscow and New York, Saint Petersburg and Madrid, Yaroslavl and Prague, Los Angeles and Ekaterinburg, and many other cities.

A young woman lives with her husband in their suburban home. She renovated the house herself, meticulously planning out every single detail in the hopes of creating the perfect place to live. One day, a stranger shows up at her doorstep in need of a place to stay, and brings his fearsome wife with him. The unwelcome guests worry the homemaker, and her anxiety only grows when she finds a picture of her own husband in the man’s bag. Darren Aronofsky’s new horror-thriller, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival a mere several days before its Russian release.

Drama. France 2017, 84 min. Directed by Christian Carion. Starring: Guillaume Canet, Mélanie Laurent, Olivier de Benoist. In French with Russian subtitles. Julien is so obsessed with his work that he has no time left for his family. His constant business trips have ruined his marriage, and raising his seven-year-old boy, Mathys, has fallen on his ex-wife and her new lover. One day, he learns that the boy has been kidnapped, and he throws himself into the search. The further he goes into his investigation, the more desperately he wishes for revenge. An experimental film by Oscar and BAFTA nominee (for “Merry Christmas/Joyeux Noël”) Christian Carion. The film was shot in only six days, and Canet was entirely unfamiliar with the screenplay – he relied on nothing but personal experience and the experience of Mélanie Laurent, who followed her own script to the letter.

Sofia is a talented and ambitious TV anchor, prepared to achieve her goals by any means necessary. Andrea is a successful neurosurgeon. They’ve been together for ten years, and in order to return their prior love and mutual understanding, the couple undertakes an experiment which ends completely differently than expected. Now Andrea is Sofia, and Sofia is Andrea. As they find themselves in their spouse’s bodies, they must first learn a new (to them) profession, and then understand a great deal about each other.
