20:00 Gregory Porter (USA) feat. Jazz Passion
In 2008, Natalia Smirnova (piano) and Oleg Butman formed a creative duo Jazz Passion performing self-composed songs and preparing to go to New York to record an album. Oleg and Natalia regularly invite venerable jazz men to perform together. This time they are joining forces with the Broadway star Gregory Porter. Gregory Porter is a brilliant vocalist with the manner of singing reminding both of Kurt Elling and Nat 'King' Cole mixing funk, R'n'B and gospel. Gregory was propelled to great popularity by Broadway. He earned a following as a main cast member of the musicals "The Civil War" and "It Ain't Nothin but the Blues" that are still selling full houses in New York. Porter is active on jazz scene as well: he collaborates with the flutist Hubert Laws – they recorded a joint album "Remembering Nat King Cole". In 2006, Gregory gave a joint concert with Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and Wynton Marsalis at the New York Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Tonight Gregory Porter performs jazzy soul songs from his solo album "Water Under Bridge".
