20:30 Jamie Davis (USA)
Jamie DavisJamie Davis entered the pantheon of great jazz vocalists, renowned for his talent and deep and soft baritone. He shared the stage with such jazz legends as Patti Austin, Tony Bennett, George Benson, Count Basie orchestra, Rosemary Clooney, Billy Cobham to name just a few. Sir Michael Parkinson, the BBC’s arbiter of important international jazz named Davis' voice "the chocolate baritone" after Jamie's joint performance with BBC sixty-four piece Orchestra and Big Band in London in 2007. Davis gives concerts in Europe and USA, takes part in all prestigious international festivals. His collaboration with Count Basie orchestra when he toured with the orchestra as a leading vocalist and headliner can be called an especially remarkable milestone in Jamie's creative career. Davis’ solo CDs "It’s All About Love", "It’s A Good Thing" and the newly released "Vibe Over Perfection" are receiving critical acclaim. The last two recordings on the Unity Music label reunited Jamie with members of the Count Basie Orchestra and some of Los Angeles’ finest instrumentalists. "It’s A Good Thing" was chosen as ‘Album of the Week’ on the digital radio station Thejazz.com in December 2007.
23:30 No Age (USA)
Los Angeles experimental lo-fi drum-and-guitar duo No Age are Dean Spunt and Randy Randall, ex-members of hardcore band Wives. Through assorted indie labels, No Age released limited runs of vinyl-only EPs before collecting many of those tracks for the singles collection "Weirdo Rippers", issued by U.K. label FatCat in summer 2007. The record's cover pays respect to the Smell, a venue/art space they felt was partially responsible for the livelihood of both No Age and Wives. The duo is also known for its videos, performance art, and visual art, as well as curating an exhibition that included works by Devendra Banhart and others. The band moved to sub pop for its full-fledged debut album "Nouns", which appeared in spring 2008.
