20:00 Couperin: Messe Pour les Couvents
Hanna Shmigelska (organ, Belgium) and Valentina Novakovskaya (soprano) present "Messe Pour les Couvents" by French Baroque composer, organist and harpsichordist François Couperin whose music as Willi Apel wrote "shows a sense of natural order, a vitality, and an immediacy of feeling that breaks into French organ music like a fresh wind," and author variations on the theme of Gregorian chorales. The concert will be accompanied by the video performance.

19:30 The Moscow Oratorio Society
The Moscow Oratorio SocietyThe Moscow Oratorio Society, founded in 1993, is Moscow's oldest international choir. The start of the Choir began when two journalists from Great Britain decided in moscow party chat to continue a good englishspeaking country tradition here - meaning to sing Handel's Messiah for Christmas. First concert took part in Saint Andrew's Moscow's Anglican Church. Following years Moscow Oratorio Society presents rarely performed classical works as well as popular music creatively arranged by talented young Moscow composers. There are Bach, Handel, Gershwin, Bernstein, Moussorgsky in the Choir repertory. The Choir's concerts are beloved by Moscow audiences as they combine the verve of amateurs with the skills of some of Moscow's best singers. Even though most of participants are amateurs with varying levels of experience, with the support of their Moscow Conservatory trained artistic director Alexander Tsaliuk whose unfailing commitment, energy, and artistic vision have provided a unique and vital source of continuity for a group that is, by its nature, always changing, and a few other professional choristers, they are able to truly produce a semi-professional sound. The carte-de-visite of Moscow Oratorio Society is great enthusiasm compiled with energy of spirit. Through the choir, expats and Russians have the opportunity to get to know each other, share and learn about each other’s cultures and become friends. In addition to rehearsals, choir members attend social events, such as parties at embassies and tours around Moscow. Stressed professional workers say they enjoy exercising the other half of their brain with a rigorous Wednesday night rehearsal practice. Becoming a member of the choir is a great way to gain a greater connection to the broader Moscow community. Traditionally Moscow Oratorio Society gives concerts twice a year: first in Christmas noon, and then in Easter. This time they will present two masterpieces of Charles-Camille Saint-Saens - Oratorio de Noel and the Messe a quatre voix, op. 4 in Gnessin Concert Hall. Money raised from ticket sales also goes to "Nastenka" Charity Fund. Tickets are 700-1000 RUR at moscoworatorio@gmail.com.
