21:00 News from Helsinki
There is good tradition: every year Moscow and Ikra Club in particular welcomes News from Helsinki festival with a special mission of the most zeitgeist musicians from the mysterious Suomi. And another issue of a regular "Helsinki news" bulletin is to come out in late September. As usual the festival is to last for two days, as usual, it offers music suited to any fancy and for all occasions. The first day features exclusively new (for Moscow) names: the major pride of Finnish export, the breathtaking folk-punk duo Jaakko & Jay that can shake up even a brigade of Lappish reindeer breeders; the legendary song-writer Ismo Alanko – a kind of Boris Grebenshchikov's Suomi version, who has played punk-rock, and reggae, and synth for his long life and showed tact, mastership and self-control in any genre (by the way he was the one who gave Kimmo Pohjonen a free pass to the fame); and finally the loud, pert and honest alternative band Lapko – the major steppers on the toes of their fellow countrymen Poets of the Fall – stadium rockers of highest quality. The headliner of the second day is an always welcomed gust in Moscow, a lookout electronic and abstract artist Vladislav Delay (aka Luomo, aka Sasu Ripatti) with the Russian premiere of his new project Sistol. Delay is to present a entire pleiad of new interesting artists such as Lau Nau – an author of magical half-acoustic songs singed to psycho-folk label Fonal; new heroes of ambient electronic scene Keramick & Lobo, and finally a positive dream-pop band French Films.
