23:00 | DJ Chernobyl (Brazil) |
Despite a depressing alias, Chernobyl plays quite cheerful ghetto-techno and what is usually called 'baile funk' – a witty combination of disco, grime and tropical rhythms of Latin America. Chernobyl discovered and signed Bonde de Role and produced their album, introduced them to Diplo (who released them on his Mad Decent label) and has produced 08 of the 12 tracks on their album (“With Lasers”), out on Domino Records. |

22:00 | Dr. Rubberfunk (UK) |

England-based Dr. Rubberfunk plays (well, it is perfectly obvious) funk, and the good one, the one is so revered in Cult. His melodies and groove are in n apple-pie order, besides he often adds a specially selected soul- and blues samples to his tracks - and sometimes Rubberfunk even drops in at hip-hop territory. The new Dr. Rubberfunk album "Hot Stone" is out now on Jalapeno Records, featuring a great selection of guest vocalists and musicians all doing their bit for the Rubberfunk sound. |

Three Bristol-based proteges of the new dub-step generation (Gvido, Joker and Gemmy) combined dub-step, 1980s synths, G-funk and soundtracks to games and for some unknown reason called their final medley "purple". The new party at Sixteen Tons is called "The Purple" as well and Gvido is the one to open it. His debut "Anidea" is a rare example of dub-step record suitable for being recommended to a wide public. Honey-fed melodies and resilient beat, several tracks with vocalists and autotune (per se upgraded R'n'B), tender hip-hop sketches about a kitten in the window are perfectly matched and easily remembered. And what is like to listen to Gvido's live sound is another intrigue. Sixteen Tons |
