Caran Casey is the brightest star of the Irish folk scene with a leaning towards jazz. As a child she sang in a church choir and took piano lessons but later she was carried away by Ella Fitzgerald and imitated her style. Being a student of the Royal Music Academy of Ireland she divided her time between attending academical studios, playing at night clubs with jazz outfits and performing folk ballads. In 1993 Caran moved to New York and it was there where classics was once and for all replaced by jazz and Irish traditional song. In 1997 Caran released he debut solo album and today she has 6 albums to her credit. She tours a lot in USA and Europe with her own band. MMDM Svetlanov Hall |
