20:00 Ave Maria
The Honored Artist of Russia Lubov Sharnina (soprano), Laureate of international competitions Andrey Kleshchev (countertenor), Honored Artist of Russia, Professor Alexey Parshin (organ) will perform "Ave Maria" program and masterpieces by Vivaldi, Bach, Gounod, Schubert, Verdi, Saint-Saens, Bortnyansky, Rossini and others based on this traditional Catholic prayer. Based on the greeting of the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary in the Gospel of Luke, the prayer takes different forms in various traditions. It has often been set to music, although the most famous musical expression of the words Ave Maria by Schubert does not actually contain the Hail Mary prayer.

19:00 Boris Berezovsky's Festival
Boris BerezovskyPianist Boris Berezovsky presents a festival "Music of Earth" which is dedicated to the Russia-UK Year 2014. Besides Boris Berezovsky the Sirin ensamble, soprano Yana Ivanilova, Yurlov Russian State Academic Choir and the Scottish duet Catriona McKay (Scottish harp) and Chris Stout (violin) will take part in Gala-concert of the festival. The program includes compositions by A. Arensky, R. Williams, I. Stravinsky, A. Metner, U. Uolton and others. Conducted by Sergey Tararin. Boris Berezovsky has established a remarkable reputation, both as the most powerful of virtuoso pianists and as a musician of unique insight and sensitivity. Born in Moscow in 1969, Boris Berezovsky studied at the Moscow Conservatoire with Eliso Virsaladze and privately with Alexander Satz. Following his London début at the Wigmore Hall in 1988, The Times described him as "an artist of exceptional promise, a player of dazzling virtuosity and formidable power"; two years later that promise was fulfilled when he won the Gold Medal at the 1990 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. In recital and as a chamber musician Boris Berezovsky performs regularly in recital series and festivals world-wide. His forthcoming performances include a return to the QEH International Piano Series, the Concertgebouw, La Roque d'Antheron, Ruhr Piano Festival, Les Folles Journees de Nantes, Palais des Beaux Arts, Brussels, Megaron, Athens and Symphony Hall, Birmingham amongst others. In program "Piano Music Nights" Boris Berezovsky will play Liszt and Ligeti. Catriona McKay is a fearless explorer of the Scottish harp who is widely recognised for her dynamic musicianship and innovative style. A diverse Scottish musician who has a unique sound fused with a daring rhythmic style. She has a long standing duo with fiddle genius Chris Stout. They explore sounds that connect and challenge through a bold and adventurous dialogue of their native Scottish music. Having gigged, explored and sculpted their musical identities together for 15 years now, Catriona McKay and Chris Stout continue to evolve and create a sound and style "operating at a rarefied level of expertise" (The Herald). The crafting of their voice as a duo which blends "elemental intensity with graceful eloquence" (The Herald) has drawn them to explore new music and new ideas for this partnership of traditional instruments - "sensual, throaty fiddle lines… harp is deliciously angular and haughty" (Irish Times). Yurlov Russian State Academic Choir today is one of the leading Russian music groups with its number of represented concert programs, wealth of the repertoire and breadth of performance possibilities. The choir is the constant participant of dozens of musical projects, events and festivals that take place both in Moscow and in other regions of Russia and the world. The Sirin ensemble (named after a bird of Paradise from Russian Christian legends) was formed in 1989 with the goal of resurrecting Russian orthodox music traditions that had been lost after the church reforms of XVII century. The repertoire of the ensemble includes a wide range of early musical styles. The ensemble has presented its interpretation of Russian church and folk music on extensive concert tours in Europe and was multifold prize winner of renowned choral competitions.
