19:00 Masterpieces for All Times. To the 125th Anniversary of Sergei Prokofiev
The National Philharmonic orchestra of Russia, Conductor Stanislav Kochanovsky and Nikolai Tokarev (piano) will perform Sergey Prokofiev's “Symphonic song”, op. 57, Scythian Suite “Ala and Lolly”, op. 20, Concerto No. 1 for piano and orchestra in D-flat major, op. 10 and Concerto No. 5 for piano and orchestra, op. 55. Nikolai Tokarev was born in Moscow in 1983 into in a musical family. His father is a concert pianist and his mother a cello player. In 1988 he started his musical training at the renowned Gnesin music school in Moscow with A.Traub, V.Tropp, and M. Khokhlov which he completed with distinction in 2001. Between 2004 and 2006 he studied at the Royal Nothern College in Manchester with Dina Parakhina. At the moment he has his postgraduate study in Duesseldorf with Prof. Barbara Szczepanska at the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule. The National Philharmonic orchestra of Russia (NPR) was founded in January 2003 by the Ministry of Culture as commissioned by President of the Russian Federation. The Orchestra united top orchestra musicians and gifted youth. During the twelve years of its activities, the NPR has succeeded in becoming one of the best symphonic orchestras of Russia and in gaining admiration from the audience and recognition from the professionals.
