The Мoscow International Performing Arts Center welcomes the First International Gypsy Jazz Festival timed to the 100th anniversary of Django Reinhardt featuring Didier Lockwood (violin, France), Frederick Belinsky (guitar, France), Stochelo Rosenberg (guitar, the Netherlands), Alexey Kuznetsov Jazz-Accord-Guitar Band, Alexey Badianov Quintet, Swing Couture and Ivan Smirnov Trio. Frederick Belinsky is the one who authored the idea of holding Gypsy Jazz festival in Moscow. For the first time ever! He decided to dedicate with unique event to his spiritual mentor, guitarist Django Reinhardt. Django Reinhardt turned an ordinary acoustic guitar into a soloing jazz instrument and created one of the most popular musical trends in Europe – jazz-manouche as well as the entire school of jazz performance. Today Didier Lockwood is justly believed to be one of the best jazz musicians of the world. Chevalier of the Legion of Honour and holder of other high national and international awards, Didier has already given more than 3000 solo concerts. He has 3 world tours to his credit, as well as 30 albums and several "golden" CDs. Virtuoso technique, free and easy performing manner, precision of musical ideas and deep lyricism to touch every listener – these are the major features of Lockwood's style. Born to a violin professor with a jazz pianist brother, Didier Lockwood inherited passion for a violin from the first one and love to refined improvisations - from the second one. Later on his mastery was highly influenced by the genius jazz violinist Staphane Grappelli. MMDM Svetlanov Hall |
